Enjoying the company of Friends

The relaunch of the Friends of Brighton Yoga Foundation (BYF) took place at the end of January, where an evening of music, nibbles and good company was enjoyed by al at Komedia in Brighton.

Folk from all walks of life came together for an evening of music, nibbles, and friends – be it seeing old ones or making new ones – all with the common purpose of contributing as a Friend of the BYF.

Guests were entertained by the wonderful music of Gratia Churchill on harmonium as we all got to know each other in a wonderfully, positive environment. Raffle tickets were snapped up as the chance to win some incredible prizes, including an Infinity hamper, was irresistible.

It was also an opportunity for everyone to meet some of the people behind the running of the BYF. Camille Pierson, our Chair of Trustees, warmly welcomed everyone and gave an overview of some of the work that the Foundation has done and is looking to continue to do. We were fortunate to be joined by guests who’ve benefitted directly from our outreach work and we’re grateful that they were able to share their stories and experiences with everyone.

Becoming a Friend of BYF can take many forms:
Donate your time – bring your skills, experience, and enthusiasm so we can bring yoga to more and more people.
Donate monthly – did you know a small, monthly donation can go a long way? Donating the equivalent price of a cup of coffee each month can help support out outreach programme.
Sign up for Easyfundraising – an effortless way for your current online shopping to benefit Brighton Yoga Foundation. Free to register with and incredibly simple to do!

This was the first of many more coming together of Friends and more are planned soon including a workshop with Tarik Dervish on April 2nd.

As we welcomed in new beginnings, it was also the opportunity to pass on thanks to Davy Jones for his considerable work for the Foundation. Davy was the founder and has been the Chair since its inception in 2016 – a role now undertaken by Camille who warmly thanked him for his efforts over the years which has made Brighton Yoga Foundation the success it is today.

How fitting that another successful evening should launch this new era. We are thrilled that so many people have decided to become a Friend with a number of monthly direct debits being set up, and people offering to volunteer their time and skills to ensure the precious work that the BYF has done in the past, will continue to happen in the future.

As with any group of Friends, the more the merrier. If you are interested in becoming a Friend of Brighton Yoga Foundation, you can find out more information here
