PREVIOUS COMMUNITY YOGA PROJECTS

Brighton Yoga Foundation has previously run many other projects in the city:

  • Yoga for Mental Health in conjunction with MIND Brighton – initially based in Whitehawk and subsequently in the city centre, a class aimed at those with mental health issues.

  • Yoga for Teenagers in conjunction with Trust for Developing Communities and the Robert Eaton Memorial Fund – aimed at young people in the Moulsecoomb and Bevendean area.

  • Yoga for Healthcare Workers.

The BYF, in partnership with Om Retreats delivered  therapeutic yoga courses in the community, in line with the NHS social prescribing guidelines.

We ran a 10-week therapeutic yoga course, available via referrals from GPs, clinicians and link workers in the NHS.

This specialist course offered participants 10 x 2- hour sessions, with onward signposting to other suitable yoga in the community once the course comes to an end. We will be actively welcoming the populations that are regularly excluded from general yoga sessions, often because of poor physical or mental health, underlying trauma, social isolation, or financial barriers.
