DIVERSITY & INCLUSION GROUP

At the BYF we strongly believe that the benefits of yoga should be available to everyone, regardless of race, gender, body type, ability, age, finance, or any other perceived barrier. However, there are deeply embedded social inequities that often make our yoga and wellbeing spaces uninviting or inaccessible to large sections of our community.

We are committed to challenging and changing this story. We are working to engage our community through education and action, in order to make access to yoga and wellbeing fair, inclusive and equitable. We have a dedicated working group that focusses on these issues, and if you would like to learn more, or become involved in the group, we would love to hear from you.

Black Lives Matter Panel Discussion

The Brighton Yoga Foundation hosted a panel discussion in July 2020 as part of its online yoga festival to discuss the Black Lives Matter campaign and its significance in highlighting the lack of diversity in the yoga community. Twanna Doherty of Yogamatters chaired the panel with guest speakers: Dianne Bondy, Amani Eke, Dirish Shaktidas, Jonelle Lewis and Kallie Schut.
