Brighton Yoga Festival 2018

Brighton Yoga Festival is the UK’s largest free yoga festival, featuring the very best teachers in yoga, meditation and nutrition.

It runs every year, and following the success of last year, will return to the beautiful venue of Sussex County Cricket Ground – Brighton & Hove. The 2018 festival will take place over the weekend of Saturday 14 – Sunday 15 July, with doors opening at 10:30am.

Now in it’s fifth year, the Brighton Yoga Festival has always appealed to seasoned yogis and beginners, and it seems we just can’t stop people wanting to get involved. As a registered charity, our goal is to give the gift of yoga to everyone, to improve the quality of people’s lives. This year, on top of the normal packed offering, we have announced an additional four top-notch specialist workshops, which can be booked in advance. A programme like this has never before been seen under one roof, and we can’t wait to share it with you!

With the overwhelming support of the yoga community, Brighton & Hove City Council and many local businesses, Brighton Yoga Festival 2018 is set to be the biggest ever. We now average between 1000 and a 5000 visitors each year, and as a result, the event has donated thousands back to the yoga community in charitable grant giving and outreach projects.

It’s the festival for all ages and everyone to enjoy – with many beginners classes, kids entertainment and fascinating talks… along with stacks of great prizes, chances to try new experiences, music to enjoy and mind blowing demonstrations to see, you’d be mad to miss it!

Advanced Booking for Specialist Classes

For the first time, we are also running a few “pay to enter” workshops with well-known teachers including Esther Ekhart, Mark Freeth, Emily-Clare Hill and Tanja Mickwitz who are all internationally renown teachers and we’re honoured to have them join our teaching team this year. See below for the workshops this year:

Saturday 11:30 – 14:00

Esther will guide you through a nourishing and insightful journey of asana, pranayama, meditation and philosophy.
Yoga is an awareness practice, a practice you feel, not think about. Learn how to bypass the mind, to tap into your feelings rather than your thoughts. This way you start to experience the stillness around and within you that underlies everything, even when you are actively moving. Expect to flow, work on mobility and stability and sit still. All levels welcome, but not for complete beginners.

This workshop has a recommended donation of £10 to attend.

Saturday 16:15 – 18:00

Enjoy a complete soulful vinyasa practice weaving the mythology of Lakshmi, the goddess of beauty, abundance and unconditional love. Mythical Flow is Tanja Mickwitz’s unique signature class incorporating storytelling into asana practice. Immerse yourself in the magical world of Indian myths, Gods and Goddesses – the symbolism of the myths is really about what happens within ourselves and connecting to different deity energies allows us to reflect over how these different aspects of ourselves shape our behaviour and who we are in the world. Through the tools of practice we can invoke exactly what we need to act more skilfully and live more fully. Suitable for beginners.
This workshop has a recommended donation of £5 to attend.

Sunday 11:45 – 13:15

Emily-Clare brings her knowledge of movement, yoga and anatomy to build a sequence to perfect balance. Expect all aspects of yoga to be woven through this creative space, there’ll be physical challenge with a spiritual sparkle. Suitable for beginners.
This workshop has a recommended donation of £5 to attend.

Sunday 13:30 – 15:30

Mark will take you on a thrilling ride through some groovy strength/mobility/stamina/ agility/endurance-promoting, movement-orientated sequences (rather than heavy on the static positions) that will challenge you (in a positive way!) and leave you feeling exhilarated & walking away like a superhero! All welcome! From whatever discipline & whatever level. But PLEASE – bring TONS of energy, a HUGE sense of humour and a WIDE open mind. Mask & cape optional… Suitable for beginners.
This workshop has a recommended donation of £5 to attend.
